However, from up here you've got a good view of Broad Street where the Big Grin Cartoon Festival will be taking place. If you look carefully you can also see the Council house in the distance. - The Broadway was built on the site of a 1839 Weslyan chapel, it was here that great Nottinghamian William Booth, committed his life to God.
- The Nottingham Film Theatre opened on September 2nd 1966.
- The first films to be shown were: James Ivory's 'Shakespeare Wallah', John Ford's 'The Grapes or Wrath' and 'The Italian Straw Hat'.
- Broadway was born out of a consortium of local media organisations, backed by the British Film Institute, East Midlands Arts, Nottingham City Council and Notts County Council.
- The Broadway was officially established in 1989.
