Well here I am finally, I got to the USA about two weeks ago now and already it feels like months! | "The good news is we haven't seen a bear yet but they are on the way according to the trackers!" | |
The camp I am staying at is called Round Lake Camp and is for special needs children from around America. The camp is located in the middle of the mountains of Pennsylvania. It's an amazing site to be at. The good news is we haven't seen a bear yet but they are on the way according to the trackers! During the first week we suffered the worst flooding for 100 years and a city 50 miles away (our closest neighbours!) was partially evacuated (30,000 people!). It was quite a hair raising situation. However, at the time we were in camp so our contact with the outside world was minimal and we didn't realize how bad it really was. It was only four days later they told us they had only just got the first delivery of food for four days and we realized the roads had been washed out! It was quite interesting finding out we had managed to cope without the outside world for so long but even so scary was definitely the word! The Campers are all here now and we're just getting used to each other. I run computer classes every day and see a massive variation of campers. The Camp is for kids with ADD and other learning difficulties so as you can imagine it can be very hard work at times! Anyway I will send you another update soon! Marty |
