It is important to emphasise however that the activities are only ideas and the list is not meant to be exhaustive. Only the salient activities have been noted with the understanding that each theme will lend itself to an array of experiences both indoors and outdoors including the use of stories, rhymes, songs and dance, photographs and jigsaws. The expertise of the early years practitioner is important at all times to ensure that appropriate activities are chosen and that they all meet with the needs and interests of the children concerned.

Each activity card also provides some prompt questions and reference to previous learning that might be useful before the planned activities are undertaken. In an effort to facilitate continuity and progression of thoughts and ideas, each activity card details how it links with other cards in the kit.
