Learning About Themselves and Others

When children come to pre-school they bring with them a range of differing learning experiences which need to be built upon and developed further.

The PSE focus at pre-school level is on children learning about themselves as individuals and those in their immediate environment. Children are at an age when it is important for them to gain confidence in their actions; to continue to develop as individuals in their own right; to come to recognise their own feelings and emotions and the feelings and emotions of others; to learn to cope with people and activities outside of the family; and to start forming positive relationships with adults and other children.
