Using the site at home

This web site offers some fun, easy art activities you can do with your child at home.

The content has been designed for 9 - 11 year olds but many of the techniques and activities could be used with children younger and a little older than the target age-group.

Don’t be put off by the mention of murals. Each mural is broken down into a series of short art activities which you can do with your child and achieve very satisfying results.

Cheap & easy to find materials

• Paint
  You will need red, yellow, blue, black and white poster paints. It’s better value to buy these in large bottles. They’re available in art shops or educational suppliers. Make sure the paint is washable. The children should use the paint without diluting it with water.
  
• Sponge & Paintbrushes
  Cut a sponge into 4 x 4 cm cubes.
  Buy a few paintbrushes of different thicknesses.
  
• Card/paper
  Card with a non porous surface is useful for some of the activities and can be bought from art shops and educational suppliers. Ordinary sketchpad paper or cartridge paper will serve just as well for most activities.
  
• You’ll also need a pencil and scissors suitable for your child.
