STRATHFOYLE REVISITED There had been some low level vandalism so the Conservation Volunteers and local residents swung into action.
The garden had been vandalised but the local residents replanted the plants that had been pulled up and cleaned up the spray paint.
The morning was great fun and the garden had really matured - even on a cold winter's day it was filled with colour and the purples and greens made a wonderful backdrop against the River Foyle and the ancient trees on the site.
The volunteers painted the fence to preserve it, planted a natural holly and hawthorn hedge around the edges and planted honeysuckle for over the archway.
Phil McLaughlin from Strathfoyle Library said "The vandalism was a one off - this is about taking ownership and the local residents have shown their commitment to the garden by tending it and replanting anything that has been targeted - it's a wonderful haven on the housing estate.
