'The Two Drums Mountain View.' This Breathing Place was officially opened on June 5th as part of the Springwatch Dirty Weekend celebrations. Local resident Joe McCarney explained how the ancient bog had been opened up again to people with the construction of the walkway and how: "These bog areas are real treasures of our landscape. They provide a unique habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna, so it's important that they are preserved and looked after. It's equally important that local people can actually enjoy them too." To celebrate the success of this Breathing Place which Drumduff and Drumnakilly Community Association have helped open, there will be two community days with lots of activities on offer. A Family Fun Day on June 5th will start the celebrations, with demonstrations from experts on planting and conservation, Ulster Wildlife Trust guided tours and themed face painting plus lots more! The second, on July 1st, will be more hands-on, when people will have the chance to get their hands dirty helping clear scrub, plant shrubs and even build bird boxes.
