(BBC Newsline 6.30 - 21/07/2008 / Reporter: Mike McKimm) Red Kites become the first species ever to be reintroduced to Northern Ireland after becoming extinct over two centuries ago.
More Information

They are back after a break of two hundred years. Red kites took to the skies above a secret location in County Down. The birds are the first species ever to be reintroduced here after becoming extinct two centuries ago. Already a major success in other parts of the UK, it is hoped their return will also encourage tourism.
