A thousand people died in the Belfast Blitz but, until now, there has been no memorial to them. Two hundred Luftwaffe bombers laid waste to the city on the night of Easter Tuesday 1941. As well as the terrible loss of life half the homes in Belfast were destroyed. With the exception of the London blitz, it was the most devastating night raid of the Second World War. Now a memorial and exhibition in the Cathedral Quarter will preserve the memories of those days.
