Paddington the Musical has just won best new musical award at the Critic's Circle Theatre awards.

The prizes are voted for by the professional theatre critics. They were given out during a ceremony at the National Theatre in London on Thursday 26 March.

The musical has continued its award-winning streak after scooping up nine prizes at the WhatsOnStage awards earlier this month.

The music has been written and made by Tom Fletcher, who is in the band McFly and wrote the Dinosaur That Pooped books.

The story follows a cuddly bear named Paddington who has to leave his home country of Peru, and arrives in London in search of a new home.

There he meets the Brown family and sets off on a number of adventures and even a daring rescue mission with them.

The stage show is currently showing at Savoy Theatre in London, and will run until late October 2026.

It is inspired by the children's books written by author Michael Bond, and the 2014 Paddington movie.

Bond's first book in the series, A Bear Called Paddington, was published in 1958.

The author went on to write 29 Paddington books in total. The stories have sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.
