British skateboarder Sky Brown has become world champion for the second time after winning gold at a major skateboarding event in São Paulo in Brazil.

The 17-year-old was competing in the park final at the World Skateboarding Championships on Sunday.

She was already in first place with a score of 88.16 when heavy rain meant the competition had to stop before the third and final runs could happen.

After her win, Brown said: "The level is crazy. I had to put a lot down to get here, but I am definitely bummed how we couldn't fully do a final.

"To win, to be a world champion on International Women's Day definitely means a lot, but there are bigger things going on.

"This feels huge and I am so thankful but there are bigger things, I just pray for peace," she added, referencing current world events.

Brown first became a world champion in 2023 when she won the park title in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates. She was only 14-years-old, and became the first skateboarder from Great Britain to win a world title.

She had already made history earlier in her career. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Brown won a bronze medal in the park event when she was just 13, becoming the youngest Olympic medallist in British history.

She won a second bronze medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024, despite recovering from a shoulder injury.
