Worth the turf? Man United sell pieces of their famous pitch

A small square of grass, that fits into your hand, is on sale for £125. Would you call that a perfectly pitched piece of football history, or too mulch and an un-be-leaf-ably expensive souvenir?
Manchester United are selling pieces of their old Old Trafford pitch for £125 each.
The turf measures 7cm by 7cm and is preserved inside a clear display cube, and comes in a black case.
The first batch has already sold out, so the idea has clearly taken root with some supporters.

The playing surface was completely dug up in June and stripped back to its foundations for the first time in 14 years.
A new surface was grown to improve water drainage and parts of the old pitch were saved instead of being thrown away.
The club says the grass can help fans "keep matchday memories alive".
After all, the pitch was used by United's men's, women's and Academy teams.
For some supporters, owning part of their team's home could feel like holding a little square of football history.
But is £125 simply too mulch?
Website, Football Ground Guide, called it a "steep price for nostalgia".
The cubes of grass went on sale as United revealed it had lost money for the seventh year in a row.
Although a record £677.6 million came into the club, it spent more than it made and ended up with an overall £43 million loss.

United are not the first club to put part of their history on sale.
Arsenal sold pieces of the old Highbury pitch before moving stadiums to the Emirates. The Highbury stadium itself is now used as a luxury apartment block.
Real Madrid auctioned 24 lockers removed during renovations at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. They had been used during an era featuring stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane.
American football team the Buffalo Bills sold seats, lockers, turf, goalposts and even urinals from the team's old Highmark Stadium.
Collectors can also hunt for old stadium seats, turnstiles, match-worn boots and shirts, often costing hundreds of pounds.
