Zootropolis 2 has become the biggest Hollywood animated film of all time.

The sequel to the Oscar-winning Zootropolis was released in November 2025.

It sees the return of the unlikely duo Judy Hopps (a rabbit) and Nick Wilde (a fox), who come together again to solve a mystery.

The film - which is known as Zootopia 2 in some countries - has now made more than $1.7 billion (£1.3bn) around the world.

But while this movie is breaking records for the US film industry, the biggest animation ever is actually the Chinese film Ne Zha 2, which made more than $2 billion last year.

These earnings mean that Zootropolis 2 has now hopped past the previous biggest Hollywood animated film, which is another hit sequel you might be aware of - Inside Out 2.

It might not surprise you to hear that Inside Out 2 took that record from ANOTHER Disney hit - Frozen 2.

Zootropolis 2 doesn't do too badly outside of the animated world either, it's now the ninth most successful film in global box office history.

That puts it alongside films like Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Alan Bergman, who is the co-chairman at Disney Entertainment, said the achievement "belongs first and foremost to the fans around the world whose enthusiasm made it possible".

He said they are "incredibly proud of our filmmakers" and the company is "grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life".
