K-Pop Demon Hunters and 'Golden' win big at movie awards

KPop Demon Hunters, has won the award for best animated film and best song at the Golden Globes.

The Golden Globes one of the most famous awards ceremonies, celebrating the best movies and TV shows of the last year.

Winners are chosen in loads of different categories, including acting, music, and animation.

"Going up, up, up" to collect the award, director Maggie Kang said: “Through this film we really wanted to depict female characters the way that we know women, which is really strong and bold.”

Co-director Chris Appelhans added that the film is a "love letter to music". "To the power it has to connect us, to make us see some kind of shared humanity,"

The film about music, teamwork, and fighting evil beat other movies in the animated category including Elio and Zootropolis 2.

It tells the story of a girl band called Huntr/x. By day, they are pop stars. By night, they use their music to protect the world from dangerous demons.

Released in June 2025, it became Netflix’s most-watched film of all time in just two months.

The film also won another Golden Globe for best original song. It beat two songs from Wicked: For Good, No Place Like Home and The Girl in the Bubble.

Golden was a massive hit in the UK, topping the Official Singles Chart for multiple weeks and broke several records.
