World's first Pokémon theme park opens
Take a peak around PokéPark

The world's first permanent Pokémon theme park has opened in Japan.
PokéPark Kanto has been built inside Tokyo's largest theme park, Yomiuriland, marking Pokémon's 30th anniversary.
This isn't the first official Pokémon park to be built. Back in 2005 and 2006, pop-up PokéParks came to Nagoya (Japan) and Taiwan, however these were only short-term attractions.
There are lots of other video game theme parks around the world, such as Super Nintendo World, in the US and Japan, with a Minecraft park on its way to the US and UK sometime between 2026-2027.

What is PokéPark Kanto like?

The park has been named Kanto after the real-life area of Japan, and the fictional version of it, first introduced in the Pokémon Red and Blue games.
Visitors enter through a "Pokémon Research Lab" building, which is a gateway to the park's two sections: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town.

Pokémon Forest is a woodland trail which features lots of Pokémon statues in different settings.
To access the woodland area, visitors must be able to climb 110 steps without assistance, the park's website says.
The Pokémon Company say there are more than 600 Pokémon in the park in total.

Sedge Town is a town centre area, which has a Pokémon Centre, a Poké Mart, a fountain and rides, including an Eevee-themed carousel.
It's also where stage performances and parades will take place, as well as live Pokémon battles, where real actors perform with robots.
