A man has been charged with preventing the lawful burial of an Italian carpenter whose body was found in a north London canal.

Paul Williams, who is 61 and of no fixed abode, will appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The tattooed body of Sebastiano Magnanini, 46, was discovered tied to a shopping trolley near a tunnel on the Regent's Canal on 24 September.

A 22-year-old man arrested on Thursday remains in custody.

Mr Magnanini, who was from Venice but had been living and working in south London, was last seen by colleagues two days before his body was found.

A post-mortem examination carried out on the victim did not reveal the cause of his death and further toxicology tests are being conducted, a Met Police spokesman said.
