The first school in West Yorkshire to offer training in engineering and manufacturing has opened.
The University Technical College Leeds (UTC) will provide specialist lessons for up to 600 students aged between 14 and 19.
The new school is a collaboration between the University of Leeds and local companies.
The £11m development is built in a wing of a Grade II-listed former factory on the Hunslet Road in the city centre.

As well as classrooms the building has a mini-factory to allow students to design and develop products.
'Advanced manufacturing'
Mark Kennedy, principal of UTC Leeds, said the college would develop students' skills, from basic manufacturing techniques through to advanced computer design.
"Industry has really led the fact that we need an engineering and advanced manufacturing UTC in Leeds," he said.
"Employers are crying out for young people who are skilled and have a knowledge of the work place."
