Mark Pearce pleaded guilty to what police called a "brutal attack" on his partner

A man who killed his partner in a "brutal attack" at the flat they shared has been jailed for life.

Mark Pearce, 51, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to the murder of 53-year-old Julie Hitch.

West Mercia Police said Ms Hitch was found dead when they were called to the property on Bewdley Street, Evesham, on 15 April. She was found to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

Pearce must serve a minimum of 16-and-a-half years in prison.

Det Insp Mark Bayliss, from West Mercia Police, said the "truly horrendous crime" followed an argument between the couple.

"This was an incident of domestic violence of the highest severity which sadly had tragic consequences," he said.
