Police said additional officers would patrol the area
A 35-year-old man is in hospital with leg and chest injuries after being shot in Birmingham.
Emergency services were called to a property in Woodfield Road, Balsall Heath, at 00:20 GMT.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said detectives were conducting house-to-house inquiries and additional officers would patrol the area.
The man is in a stable condition in hospital. Police have urged anyone with information to contact them.
