A teenager out celebrating a friend's birthday was fatally stabbed at a club when a fight broke out after a row over a girl, a court has been told.
Daniel Kirkwood, 18, was found with knife wounds to his neck outside Society Club, in Coventry, last March.
At Warwick Justice Centre, five men from Birmingham deny his murder.
Trouble started when one defendant took exception to one of Mr Kirkwood's friends chatting to a girl he had been talking to, the jury heard.

The club's DJ said he saw a man in a white T-shirt pick up a small kitchen knife from the dance floor before running towards Mr Kirkwood and his friends shouting: "Come on, you can have it."
Prosecutor Michael Burrows QC said although the club's CCTV had not picked up the stabbing, it recorded Mr Kirkwood moving away from defendant Tobijah Thompson, and it was apparent that he was holding something in his right hand.
A witness statement from Jordan Williams, a friend of Mr Kirkwood, described him seeing Mr Thompson pull something long and thin from his pocket, and move towards Mr Kirkwood making thrusting and stabbing movements.
The jury also heard how three of his friends were also injured.
Nigel Mkhwananzi, 18, nearly died after he was stabbed in the back and Niall Kavanagh, 17, was slashed on his arm and still has restricted movement.
Christopher O'Brien, whose birthday it was, was badly beaten.
Saker Shireen Khan, 24, of Belchers Lane, Small Heath, 19-year-old Hasham Muqtaz Ali from Amberley Green in Birmingham, Ramez Murtaza, 20, of Bordesley Green East, Bordesley Green - all Birmingham - all deny murder and violent disorder.
Ezra Scott, 21, of Hawksyard Road, Erdington and Tobijah Thompson also both deny murder.
