That's a lot of rope
We picked up some quick (and yes interesting!) facts about ropes.
42 miles of ropes are needed on one of the Class A Tall Ships.
That weighs in the region of 73 tonnes.
Ropeworks were commonplace in maritime ports.
Belfast had one of the largest ropeworks in the world during the shipbuilding age which was on the Newtownards Road.

It was no day trip
And now for some more Viking history: The Vikings repeatedly attacked Bangor Monastery and on one raid killed 900 monks. They ransacked tombs, took anything of value, burned everything they didn't want and took monks as slaves.
