    Police have released video footage, external of two men seen running from the scene following a crash in Normanton on Sunday.

    It happened at 21:10 and involved a Mazda 3 Sport and a Vauxhall Astra.

    Derbyshire Police said it was keen to hear from anyone who recognises the people in the video.

    A man who died after trying to save a Derbyshire backpacker as she was stabbed to death has been honoured.

    Thomas Jackson, of Congleton, Cheshire, was fatally injured as he tried to help Mia Ayliffe-Chung, 20, from Wirksworth, in the attack at an Australian hostel in 2016.

    He was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for great courage on what would have been his 33rd birthday.

    His mother, Sandra Jackson, received the honour on behalf of her son from the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace.

    The European Aviation Safety Agency has issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive, external (AD) for the AW169 helicopter - the model involved in the crash at the King Power Stadium, that killed five people.

    The directive, which doesn't directly mention the Leicester crash but does mention an accident being investigated, calls for an urgent check of the mechanism that controls the aircraft's tail rotor and "corrective action(s)" if required.

    It said: "This AD is considered to be an interim action and further AD action may follow."

    Longland Lane in Farnsfield is set to stay closed for several more hours following a crash this morning involving a lorry and a car, police said, external.

    Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash, which happened near the A614 junction shortly before 12:00.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a two-car crash in Castle Gresley.

    Police said a woman suffered minor injuries when her Vauxhall Zafira and a BMW 216d collided in Castle Road at about 14:00.

    The uninjured BMW driver was arrested at the scene.

    Nine people have been jailed, external after admitting running a modern slavery operation in Derbyshire that exploited dozens of vulnerable Latvians.

    Police said the offences were uncovered after officers looked into the backgrounds of a man who'd arrived at a police station claiming to be homeless and a woman who was assaulted at a taxi office.

    They began piecing the jigsaw together and worked with Latvian authorities to build their case.

    Det Con Kane Martin said: “During the 18-month investigation, we were all taken aback by the callous nature of how the victims in this case were treated by the ringleaders and their operatives.

    “We saw first-hand how vulnerable they truly were, and the conditions they were forced to live in while earning money for someone else compounded the cruelty of the gang."
