The Worcestershire-trained horse Pineau De Re has ended a 12-year run of post-Aintree disappointment by becoming the first Grand National-winning horse since 2002 to go on and win another race .

The 12-year-old, which is trained by Dr Richard Newland in Claines, failed to win in eight runs since triumphing at Aintree in April 2014, before picking up the victory at Carlisle on Sunday.

It is the first time a Grand National victor has gone on to claim another win since the 2002 winner Bindaree went on to win the Welsh National at Chepstow the following year.

The grandfather of 27-year-old woman who was found dead in Redditch in the early hours of Sunday morning has described her as a "brilliant girl".

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Stacey Sollis, whose body was found at a property in Knowle Close.

Her grandfather, Leslie Quiney, said: "She had a lovely personality, would get on with anybody, do anything for anybody."

Goose sales are up this Christmas with credit going to a storyline on the BBC Radio 4 drama, The Archers.

A Rednal man described as "the brains behind the scheme" who helped carry out carefully planned and calculated thefts has been jailed, external.

The former Radio Wyvern DJ Neil Fox has been cleared of sexually and indecently abusing young fans and colleagues.

The 54-year-old, who is better known as Dr Fox, Mr Fox, 54, had denied eight indecent assaults and two sexual assaults between 1988 and 2014.

At Westminster Magistrates' Court, chief magistrate Howard Riddle said the victims were believable but that the bench "could not be sure that in the context it was a criminal offence".

A woman who was found dead in Redditch prompting a murder inquiry has been named by her family as 27-year-old Stacey Sollis.

Her body was discovered at a home in Knowle Close at 01:36 on Sunday.

A 32-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

A Worcestershire company has helped save homes in part of a town in Cumbria from the recent floods.

Homes in Rubby Banks Road in Cockermouth were in four feet (1.2m) of water in 2009 but this time they have been protected by the barriers installed by UK Flood Barriers, based in Hampton Lovett near Droitwich.

An elderly woman who was stalked and robbed while Christmas shopping says she wants to thank a Good Samaritan who remarkably returned her stolen purse- with her cash still inside, external.

Wye Valley NHS Trust, which runs Hereford County Hospital, said Wye and Frome wards had been closed as a precaution to stop the spread of diarrhoea and vomiting - likely to be caused by norovirus.

The hospital has not said how many patients and visitors are currently affected 

Alison Johnson, consultant microbiologist at the trust, urged patients and visitors not to visit any hospital or surgery until they had been free of symptoms for at least 48 hours

She said outpatient clinics weren't affected by the closures, but urged people to use "good hand hygiene" and only visit hospital "if you really need to".

Emily-Jade, from Worcester, has become an anti-bullying ambassador after her 15-year-old sister Ellie killed herself following what she described as a campaign of bullying online - facing nasty and anonymous messages.

She told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "I think about all the things she missed out on like getting married, finishing school, showing the bullies they haven't won."
