    Hereford FC have confirmed they have formally applied for promotion to the Southern Football League should they win the Midland Football League this season.

    Interested clubs had to submit a range of documentation to the FA by the end of November and Hereford have confirmed this was done well within the deadline.

    The Bulls are currently six points clear at the top of the Midland Football League table although second-placed Alvechurch have three games in hand.

    The only Citizen's Advice Bureau in Herefordshire will close as a result of council cuts.

    Herefordshire Council's grant of £117,000 per year was withdrawn - the money is now being put towards a new walk-in hub service where the public can go to get advice.

    The bureau will close in June next year.

    The FA Trophy first-round draw handed Worcester City another away tie as they will head to Vanarama National League club Southport on Saturday, 12 December.

    This will be a good test for Carl Heeley and Matt Gardiner's side as they play their league football a level lower than their hosts.

    Recent fine performances as underdogs will stand City in good stead.

  16. Primary schools lagging behind in basic skillspublished at 15:26

    Worcestershire is towards the bottom of a league table produced by the Department for Education (DofE) ranking the percentage of pupils who achieved Level 4 or higher in reading, writing and maths.

    The education authority came 136th out of 143 local authorities - Herefordshire fared slightly better coming 84th on the list.

    The DofE says children at England's smallest primary schools are three times more likely to achieve top test scores than those attending the largest schools.

    The highest score for a primary school with six to 10 pupils was 36.3, achieved by Little Dewchurch Church of England School in Hereford.

    Worcester Wolves’ head coach, Paul James, says the loss of both Ben Eaves and Perris Blackwell to injury is a cruel blow just when he felt their season was about take off.

    Eaves faces up to three months on the sidelines after sustaining a double fracture of the thumb during a University game against Durham.

    Blackwell damaged ankle ligaments during training and could be missing for three weeks, so the Wolves will be forced into changes for the visit of Leicester Riders to the University of Worcester Arena on Friday, 11 December - tip-off at 19:30

    A court has upheld environmental health inspectors' decision to close a takeaway in Ledbury after they found an infestation of cockroaches, external.

    The inspectors took the decision after a routine, unannounced inspection of the Paradise Balti & Tandoori on Bye Street in December.

    They served an emergency prohibition notice, closing the premises, a decision upheld at Hereford Magistrates Court on Monday.
