    Remaining dry into the evening and overnight but it will quickly turn misty and foggy this evening and it will remain fairly foggy throughout the night.

    It will again be a mild night with a minimum of 8C.

    More than half a million pounds has been raised by Oxfam's shops in Derbyshire so far this year.

    The money is being spent on refugees coming from Syria and Turkey as they arrive to start new lives in Italy. 

     Area manager for Derbyshire Walter de Buck hopes the generosity continues up to Christmas.

    A Derby man has been sentenced to life for murdering a 17-year-old in Swadlincote.

    Dominic Halliday-Fox, 21, admitted he inflicted the fatal stab wound that killed Dante Francis, from Leicester, but denied murder.

    He was found guilty following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court and sentenced to life in prison, to serve a minimum of 23 years.

    Both men had been at the Empire bar, in West Street, Swadlincote in the early hours of 10 April.

    An argument broke out and Halliday-Fox stabbed Mr Francis.

  7. Derby charity to move on from Calaispublished at 16:30 GMT 31 October 2016

    The founder of the Derby charity The World Wide Education Project, external, which helps child refugees, says it will now focus on helping Greece.

    The change has come after the Calais migrant camp known as The Jungle was broken down.

    Simon Devine, who set up the charity, said: "We have currently been supporting psychological welfare of volunteers at the refugee.

    "The reason for Greece is because it has very high excessive numbers of people going through into Greece."

    A bike similar to this one was stolen from the roof of a car, external parked at West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton.

    The theft took place between 18:30 and 19:00 on Saturday 15 October.

    PCSO Matt Boyer from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “The bike was attached to a roof rack on the top of the car but the straps were cut and the bike removed."

    Vandals have seriously damaged a sports field in Baslow and Stoney, external by driving onto the pitches.

    It happened overnight between Thursday and Friday, and led to the cancellation of matches for both Stoney Middleton FC and Baslow FC.

    A jury has found 21-year-old Dominic Halliday-Fox from Derby guilty of murdering 17-year-old Dante Francis from Leicester. 

    Halliday-Fox stabbed the teenager outside the Empire bar in Swadlincote in April. 

    The judge at Nottingham Crown Court will pass sentence this afternoon.

    A jury is considering a verdict on the death of a Leicester man outside a Derbyshire nightclub. 

    Seventeen-year-old Dante Francis was stabbed by 21-year-old Dominic Halliday-Fox outside the Empire bar in Swadlincote in April.

    Mr Halliday-Fox, from Derby, has denied murder and said he just wanted to scare him away.

    The trial is taking place at Nottingham Crown Court.

    At some point between Tuesday 18 October and Wednesday 19 October, a car parked near the BMX track at Alvaston Park was set on fire, external.

    Police said the offenders allegedly got into the black Audi A3 and set fire to some bags on the passenger seat.

    When Phoebe's dad died suddenly at home three years ago, the family struggled to come to terms with their loss.

    Through Treetops Hospice Care’s Counselling and Emotional Support Service, Phoebe was provided with the time and support to come to terms with everything.

    She said: "Treetops helped me understand that it was okay to feel angry, sad or scared.

    "They helped me cope, and showed me ways in which I could remember my dad, and I’m so grateful for that."

    The BBC’s One Show has announced the return of the Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge.

    This year’s pedal team includes 18-year-old Phoebe from Belper.

    Phoebe was selected for the challenge due to her involvement with Treetops Hospice Care, a charity part-funded by the appeal.

    On Friday we wished Ben Graham, George Edwards and Hugh Zwolinski good luck as they walked 34 miles in memory of their school friend.

    Natalya Kumar-Lee died suddenly from an asthma attack last year, two days before her 12th birthday.

    The boys walked to Kinder Scout and have now raised more than £5,000.
