Outside Epic Partners, Dean Mackenzie said this is a "once-of-a-lifetime opportunity".

The 37-year-old said: "I have so much love and adoration for Meg and Harry. I've always wanted to meet them.

"I met King Charles many years ago when he came to Shetland where my parents live.

"I was very excited. My mother said I must go. I would love to give Meghan these flowers and get a photo, that would make my day."

Much has been made of Harry and Meghan having to use private security for their visit to Nottingham today.

But at their final stop in Sneinton, a small police presence is also here, with an unmarked car blocking access to Epic Partners's base in Edale Road.

Harry said: "It's great to be back. Wonderful and great to be back in Nottingham too."

And Meghan, who I asked about meeting her friends in Himmah's kitchen, said: "It was really, really meaningful. Thank you for asking."

    Arrival

Harry and Meghan's visit to Nottingham has reached its third and final destination - back in the Sneinton area.

Crowds had gathered ahead of the couple's arrival at Epic Partners in Edale Road, which has worked with Harry since his visit to Nottingham in 2013.

The Full Effect partnership followed between Epic and the Community Recording Studio (CRS), which Harry and Meghan visited earlier.

The partnership mixed community-based support with school interventions, including music and creative activities.

During their 2017 royal visit, Meghan met young people supported by Full Effect and spent time with Epic's girls' nurture group.

Harry's support continued through a large donation to BBC Children in Need, while last year he donated a further £50,000 to Epic-supported apprenticeships organisation Coach Core.

Maddie Ward, 21, and Manisha Labana, 20, are friends and housemates.

Maddie said: "We've come to see Harry and Meghan, who recently came back. Since they met and got married and started their married life here, I've been a fan.

"I can understand there's criticisms about them but I like them and the work they do.

"It's good they're doing positive things like being at this food bank. It's fine they're not working royals, but they can't just be ordinary members of the public.

"I'd like to be able to meet them, shake their hand."

Manisha added: "Meghan is a positive role model and empowering, especially for mixed women as well."

Among the disappointed people who missed out on meeting Harry and Meghan was Shaghofta Akhtar, 53, from Nottingham.

She said: "I'm a big supporter of Meghan - particularly her views on peace and women's rights - but disappointed that she didn't come out to greet people who had been waiting.

"I'm a little bit unhappy because I was waiting for her, but I'm sure they have their security reasons for it."

Others heard about the couple's visit on the radio this morning, and decided to come to the Himmah food bank.

Sabjit Johal, 76, and Kulvir Johal, 71, have travelled to Hyson Green from Bramcote in Nottinghamshire.

"We're here to see Harry and Meghan," said Sabjit. "We were big fans of Lady Diana so it brings back memories.

"I like how they speak up for themselves, they're not scared of upsetting the Royal Family.

The Duchess was also reunited with four women she previously worked with on a cookbook in 2018.

On seeing them ahead of the cooking class, Meghan said: "I want to meet all of you, it smells amazing but I have to go see my ladies first!"

    Megan especially was among friends.

After the formal introductions, she peeled away saying she had to get to the kitchen to meet "her ladies".

These were the women who'd worked with her on a cookbook eight years ago. The mood was family reunion.

They hugged, there was a lot of emotion in the room, they told her they missed her.

After arriving in Nottingham earlier today, Harry and Meghan went straight to greet the crowds of well-wishers - just like a traditional royal walkabout - smiling, shaking hands, giving hugs and taking selfies with the members of the public.

The Duchess was heard telling one woman in the crowd "it's great to be back", and she left carrying multiple bouquets of flowers as she went inside the Community Recording Studio (CRS) building.

They offer community meals, food parcels and practical support for residents, and their kitchen dished up more than 15,000 meals in 2024-25.

Cheers went up, as did dozens of camera phones. The couple waved as they walked into the charity building.

There were shouts of "hello Harry, hello Meghan" as they arrived.
