Reporting from Speedwell Road in Bristol
I've been at the scene of the shooting for most of the afternoon.
There's lots of people coming home from work and school and not being able to get past.
This is all because of this incident earlier this afternoon on Speedwell Road, when we heard just before 14.00 BST a gun had been fired in to a car and a man has now been taken into hospital after sustaining a potentially life changing injury.
Firearms officers descended on the scene here and an investigation is still under way to identify the man responsible.
He was seen leaving the area in the in the direction of Soundwell on a black and grey electric bike.
Police are saying they will be here for some time just to reassure the community - they know this is a really distressing incident for people in the area.
Neighbourhood Ch Insp James Clements gave an update to reporters a short time ago.

Police earlier described the gunman as white and in his late teens or early 20s.
