
SAC Tim Laurence's picture of two F-35B jets over the east coast of England is one of those shortlisted for a public vote in this year's Royal Air Force Photographic Competition.

Royal Photographic Society president Walter Benzie, Metro picture editor Luke Brighty and photographer Emma Cattell chose nine images for the People's Choice vote, including this one of the Red Arrows (the RAF aerobatic team), by SAC Adam Fletcher.

“I’m full of envy because we’ve been seeing some superb photographs taken in situations and positions that normally ordinary photographers never get the opportunity to access," said Mr Benzie. This image of a "desert pink" Tornado, number ZG750, carrying 11 "battle honours" on its tail, is by SAC Rose Buchanan.

This shot of a fireman, from RAF Shawbury fire and rescue department, extinguishing flames on the station aircraft simulator is by Ian Forshaw.

This photo of the Falcons performing aerial acrobatics to a packed crowd at RAF Henlow families day is by Shay Woods, a civilian contractor based at JFC Wyton.
