Students protest countrywide against the rise in tuition fees
Students across the country, from Southampton to Edinburgh and Cardiff to Cambridge, have been taking part in a wave of protests against the rise in tuition fees at English universities from 2012.
In London there was some violence a police van was attacked and demonstrators clashed with officers.
Many students are angry with the Liberal Democrats for breaking their election pledge to oppose an increase in fees.
