Fountaindale School, Nottingham

The Able Orchestra, an inclusive ensemble featuring diverse young disabled and able musicians from Nottinghamshire together with professional artists from The Hallé Orchestra and Inspire’s County Youth Arts team, performed a new piece composed especially for BBC Music Day, on 15 June.

Co-produced with Orchestras Live, this event followed the acclaimed performances by Able Orchestra at last year’s BBC Ten Pieces Proms in London.

The Raglan Schools, Enfield

A partnership festival bringing together instrumental ensembles from several Enfield Primary schools, to share their performances with their peers, and to learn and perform Miriam Makeba's Pata Pata in a workshop with live musicians.

Reynalds Cross Special School, Solihull

In an event named Mambo-Jambo, Jessie’s Fund teamed up with Reynalds Cross Special School for a creative project inspired by Bernstein’s 'Mambo' (one of the BBC Ten Pieces). All children, whatever their abilities and disabilities, can take part in and benefit from music and children were at the heart of this joyous sharing event.

Ten Pieces assemblies

Almost 50,000 pupils in 263 schools across the UK took part in special BBC Ten Pieces assemblies by performing one of the pieces or their creative responses.
