This afternoon, The ADHD Foundation, external celebrated the gifts of those who live with ADHD with a fantastic dance flashmob in the centre of Liverpool.

Beneath the beautiful art installation The Umbrella Project, external, young people who live with ADHD performed to Kylie's hit Spinning Around. You remember Kylie, right? National Rail's greatest train announcer?

Just one level down from where Josephine Shaw was busking, proud community singers The Big Sing, external surprised travellers at London's Liverpool Street Station with a live performance this evening, as we celebrate the amazing impact group singing can have on those who take part and those who listen.

Based in both London and Essex, the Big Sing choir is dedicated to uniting communities with the power of song.

Legendary singer Gabrielle, Liverpudlian singer/footballer Chelcee Grimes and singer/songwriter, guitarist and pianist Nina Nesbitt were among the brilliant female musicians surprising Londoners today with street performances.

Part of Busk In London, and in celebration of BBC Music Day, these mini-shows brought a musical boost to the days of unsuspecting commuters.

How often do you get to hear original songs created by international rock superstars and five year olds?

As part of BBC Music Day, The Wombats took inspiration from the CBeebies tunesters - 5 year old Amelia, Franki and Harris - as they explored what they loved most about the seaside.

From pretty shells to slimy seaweed, the musicians took these youngers' inspiration and customised one of their top tracks, accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

The brilliant rock act performed at 9am this morning, kicking off the BBC Music Day festivities across the nation.

Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol talks about how his father has been affected by dementia, and how music is helping him.

We launched Music Memories, external as part of BBC Music Day today. It's a ground-breaking website designed to help people who are living with dementia by stimulating music memory.

Obviously it's difficult to go wrong when requesting the hits of legendary Nile Rodgers and his band Chic, but even so, the live playlist was fantastic.

Le Freak, Good Times, Thinking Of You, Spacer - we were treated to performances of truly iconic tracks at the hands of a musical master, live on BBC Radio 2.

Birmingham has been alive with the sound of BBC Music Day.

The workplace choirs of Birmingham have been singing at venues across the city, and joined forces at New Street Station meeting the BBC singers off the train for a performance on the concourse.

This inspiring community gospel choir is made up of people living with dementia, carers for those with dementia, and the community. They say they get together about once a month, it's not always easy getting out to perform but they really enjoy it.

Lillian suffers from dementia and says she's part of the choir because "music means a lot to me. It helps my brain - it keeps me active, and I love singing." Her favourite song is Amazing Grace.

Today the BBC launches Music Memories, external, a new website that hopes to build up a national database of songs to help those with dementia.

The website allows people to browse more than 1,800 songs, classical works and TV theme tunes from the last 100 years, creating a playlist of personally meaningful music.

Those playlists can then be shared - along with some basic information about the user's age, gender and place of birth - allowing carers to identify songs that could help others with a similar background.

According to a BBC News article, uncovering songs that mean a great deal to specific groups could be vital to reconnecting them to treasured memories:

"The example we often give is that there's a famous Scottish lullaby calledAlly Bally Bee, external," said Sarah Metcalfe from Playlist for Life.

"Most people in Glasgow have it on their playlist because it takes them back to their mum singing to them and feeling safe and loved.

"But if you're Glaswegian and you end up in a care home in Reading, the chances are nobody knows Ally Bally Bee. They've never even heard of it.

"And if we can begin to connect up what people like in different parts of the country, we can actually begin to help reach people."

It's hoped this platform will allow those without current access to music therapy groups to experience the healing powers of music, which has been well documented in dementia sufferers, external.

Responsible for some of the most amazing hits of the last half century, the legendary Nile Rodgers will join Jo Whiley and and Simon Mayo from 5pm on BBC Radio 2.

Along with his band Chic, he's known for songs throughout the 70s and 80s that need no introduction: Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Good Times and We Are Family to name a scant few.

But it's his collaboration work that's ensured Nile remains as relevant and important now as he was 40 years ago: working with every artist imaginable, from David Bowie and Lady Gaga to Daft Punk and Duran Duran to Avicii.

Releasing a brand new album with Chic today, we're overjoyed to have him join us as an ambassador for BBC Music day. You'll be able to request anything from his back-catalogue from 5pm today, and we can't wait.
