Southmead Hospital, Bristol

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of BBC Points West, singers from 60 choirs from all over the South West joined together with the Bristol Youth Choir to form a massed choir in the brand-new Southmead Hospital on 15 June.

The choir were joined by special guest artists YolanDa and the UWE ReVoice Choir, a community choir for people affected by aphasia.

Showcasing the theme of the power of music for good health and wellbeing and as a panacea for the soul, the musicians performed a range of uplifting songs during the afternoon and evening, including broadcasts on BBC Radio and TV.

The awe-inspiring backdrop of the new Southmead Brunel building was the ideal venue for this unique event, which raised the spirits of all who listen, watch and take part.
