BBC NI announces comprehensive multiplatform coverage of the 2019 General Election in Northern Ireland
The coverage will bring all the debate and drama to audiences on BBC News NI digital services, television, radio, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer.

The View
In the run up to Election Day Mark Carruthers will have one to one in-depth interviews with party leaders each Thursday at 10.45pm.
The Leaders' Debate
In the final run-up to the General Election, the leaders of the main parties will be invited to take part in a debate in front of a studio audience. The NI Leaders’ Debate will be on BBC One NI on Tuesday 10 December at 9pm and will be chaired by Noel Thompson. The debate is also due to be broadcast on the BBC News channel.
BBC Newsline
BBC Newsline will be offering viewers comprehensive coverage of the General Election. The programme will feature special constituency reports and will gather the views of voters from doorsteps across Northern Ireland as well as providing regular election round-ups.
Election 2019
Our overnight election coverage kicks off with Mark Carruthers live in studio from BBC Broadcasting House and he’ll be joined by Tara Mills presenting from the Titanic Exhibition Centre. We’ll have all the results live as they come through starting on BBC One NI from 9.55pm on Thursday 12 December as polling stations close their doors.
Mark will be joined for analysis by BBC News NI’s political Editor Mark Devenport and Mark Simpson who will be presenting the data throughout the night from the virtual reality studio.
Tara and Mark Carruthers will be joined by politicians and commentators with their predictions and analysis as the results unfold. We will have reporters live at the count centres bringing the audience up-to-the-minute results and all the breaking stories from across the 18 constituencies as well as reflecting the story across the UK.
Coverage will continue through the night.
Sunday Politics
Mark Carruthers and commentators will be examining the big stories and hearing from the smaller parties on BBC One NI at 10am every Sunday in the run up to polling day. Then on the Sunday after the election, he will get reaction from the parties and analysis from the experts.
BBC Radio Ulster
Good Morning Ulster and Evening Extra
As Election Day approaches, Good Morning Ulster, Monday-Friday from 6.30am, will cover all the latest election news, while Evening Extra, Monday-Friday from 4-6pm, will have the latest on the day’s big political stories.
The Nolan Show
In the run up to one of the most pivotal elections Northern Ireland has ever seen, the Nolan show from 9am will bring listeners its trademark political interviews with representatives from the main political parties. Stephen Nolan will scrutinise manifestos and drill down into the issues that matter to the public.
Talkback
As Election Day approaches, William Crawley will host all the leaders from the main parties giving his callers the opportunity to ask the questions that matter to them on the big issues in this election. These specials can be watched live on bbc.co.uk/newsni and afterwards on the BBC iPlayer.
Inside Politics
Inside Politics will feature interviews with party leaders on Fridays at the earlier time of 5.30pm with expert opinion and analysis from political commentators.
Election 2019
As the polling stations close and the votes are counted Karen Patterson and William Crawley bring listeners all the drama and results from across Northern Ireland starting at 10pm and running through the night to 6am. Seamus McKee will be live with reaction and analysis at the main count centre in Belfast and there’ll be live updates from all the other counts across Northern Ireland plus expert analysis on the political picture emerging across England, Scotland and Wales.
Sunday With Dearbháil
Each week in the run up to polling day Dearbháil McDonald will unpick the twists and turns of the election race with the newspaper panel. David McCann from Slugger O’Toole will be the point-man on policy, looking at how local and national parties are trying to win over potential voters.
BBC Radio Foyle
Candidates in the north west will be put through their paces in a series of debates presented by Elaine McGee on BBC Radio Foyle. They will be probed on all the issues, local and national, in the North West Election Debates - Live between 2-3pm on Monday 25, Tuesday 26, and Wednesday 27 November.
The Breakfast Show and News At One on BBC Radio Foyle will also keep listeners up-to-date on every twist and turn of the local and national General Election campaign right up until a Breakfast Show Election Results Special from 6-9am on results day, Friday 13 December.
Digital
BBC News NI’s digital team will have all the information needed before and after polling day, including the biggest stories as they happen; constituency and party profiles; and detailed analysis of where the parties stand on the important issues.
On results night, there will be minute by minute coverage of what is happening in your own constituency. Political reporter, Jayne McCormack will be reporting for BBC News NI from the count at the Titanic Exhibition centre, while BBC News staff will deliver breaking news from all 18 battlegrounds.
As the night progresses, we will provide results, infographics and analysis from BBC News NI’s team of political correspondents and social media updates from every count until the final result is known. BBC News NI website will also stream audio and video feeds of BBC NI television and radio output to ensure no election action is missed.
BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer
All BBC radio General Election programmes will be available on BBC Sounds.
The podcast, Red Lines, presented by Mark Carruthers, will be available from 4pm every Tuesday on BBC Sounds with all the latest gossip from the campaign trail and analysis from political analysists and commentators.
