I hope that the film raises the profile of those working to support children who have a parent in prison – as well as highlighting what still needs to be done.

Peter says: “I am proud to be supporting BBC Children in Need and the Prison, My Parents & Me documentary, I hope that the film raises the profile of those working to support children who have a parent in prison – as well as highlighting what still needs to be done.”

In a ground breaking Children in Need Special, Prison, My Parents & Me shows us what it’s like to be a prisoner’s child, and gives children often lost in the system a chance to tell their own stories. The number of children with a mum or dad in prison is growing at an alarming rate. Nearly 10,000 children visit a parent in prison every week, but whilst their parent is on the inside, outside the children are often bullied and left feeling isolated and ostracised.

BBC Children in Need will also have the exclusive first look at the Doctor Who Christmas special on BBC Children in Need Appeal Show, Friday 18 November.

Prison, My Parents & Me airs Tuesday 15 November on BBC One at 10.45pm
