Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac's on-air career began in 2004 when, as a broadcast assistant, she impressed her BBC bosses enough to convince them to give her her very own show. That show, Annie Mac's Mash Up, celebrates music that makes you dance – Annie plays a mix of drum & bass, hip hop, house, breakbeat, disco and electro house.
Annie's domination of Radio 1 is continuing slowly but surely – as well as Friday night's Mash Up she now also has a Saturday and a Sunday slot, and she can often be heard filling in for other Radio 1 DJs.
She says her most embarrassing on-air moment was when, covering the early morning slot on Radio 1, she called David Cameron the leader of the 'Conservatory Party'.
