Although he leads a busy life Engelbert Humperdinck proves that there is always time for a charitable cause. Engelbert, who has just fought seven feet of snow on the American East coast to get back to his home in Great Glen in Leicestershire, this year celebrates his 40 years of success in the charts. The busy "King of Romance", who makes a short stop in Leicester before leaving for a tour in Florida does however have time for another veteran in the entertainment business. Although Tony feels slightly uncomfortable reminding Engelbert about his 40 years in the business, our "King" is happy to celebrate the anniversary. Engelbert has had many hits throughout the years, such as "Release me" and "Can't take my eyes off of you", selling him around 150 million records. Engelbert's big heartThis Leicestershire local also remembers meeting another king - the great Elvis Presley. "He was a very warm person," Engelbert says. His visit to BBC Leicester does, however, make it obvious that Engelbert too is a man with a big heart. Apart from visiting the Rainbow Hospice where he was singing and playing the ukulele, Engelbert is now also taking part in the Ruby Rainbow Appeal by wearing the Rainbow wristband - which appropriately enough comes in all the colours of the rainbow (all in one wristband!).
