She worked on her own but was friends with Laura in the next office. She worked 38 hours a week and paid £9 a week, she wanted to meet people when she got the job. At dinnertime, she had a packed lunch in work.
When she had time off work she spent her time buying clothes, she didn’t have a uniform but she wore a smart suit in the office. However, when she was 21 she went into hospital and when she came out the currency had changed from shillings to pounds and decimals.
