|  |  | The Bedaux strike |  | In 1931, almost 3000 Wolsey employees from hosiery factories in Leicester went on strike in protest at the Bedaux system. The Bedaux strikers were demonstrating against the imposition of a system which was designed to maximise productivity, at the cost of their earnings.
