네, 오늘 질문은 뭐였나요?

Today, we are going to be talking about British food, and that great British invention - the sandwich! I wanted to find out how people make their perfect sandwich – everyone has a different one!

Bolam
좋은 생각인데요? 누구와 제일먼저 얘기했어요?

Phil
First I asked Sam how to make her ideal sandwich.

Sam
Ok, firstly take two slices of bread. Then, butter them. Next, place two slices of ham on one slice of bread and place 4 slices of cheese on the other slice of bread. Finally, put it in the toaster.

Phil
Wow, I’m really hungry now – can you just explain what's in Sam's sandwich?

Bolam
먼저 butter 버터, ham 햄, cheese 치즈 이렇게 나왔었고요. Toasted 토스트 된 이라는 단어도 들리네요.

Phil
Yum! So, how do we talk about sequences?

Bolam
순서를 말해주는 부사를 쓸 수 있겠죠. 그러니까 Sam은 firstly 처음에 라는 부사를 썼고, then 그다음으로, next 다음에는 과 같은 부사를 사용해서 순서를 설명했습니다.

And how did she talk about the last thing in the list?

Bolam
Finally 마지막으로 라는 부사를 써서 해야할 일 중 마지막으로 해야할 것을 설명했죠?

Phil
Ok, let’s see what Tom likes.

Tom
Well, the perfect sandwich is vegetarian. First of all, slice your bread, and then spread some hummus on the bread. Next, add some cheese and lettuce and then add some hot sauce. Last of all, put it together and eat it in the garden, in the sunshine.

Phil
That sounds great. What's Tom having?

Bolam
Vegetarian 채식주의자 샌드위치 였습니다. Hummus 하머스, cheese 치즈, lettuce 상추, hot sauce 핫소스가 들어간다고 했죠?

Phil
Oh, I really need to have lunch soon. Any good language points there?

Bolam
네 first of all 가장 먼저 그리고 last of all 마지막으로 라는 표현들도 순서를 나타내는 부사들이죠? 그리고 여기서 명령문으로 샌드위치 만드는 법을 설명하고 있기 때문에 주어가 없이 동사로 문장이 시작했다는 점 주의하시기 바랍니다. Slice the bread 빵을 잘라라 spread some hummus 하머스를 발라라, add some cheese and lettuce 치즈와 상추를 더해라 이런 것들이 다 명령문이죠?

Thanks, that’s great. Now let’s hear about Neil’s perfect sandwich.

Neil
To start with get some bread, then butter it and spread some mustard on. After that, add some spicy meat and some pickle. Finally, put in a slice of cheese if you like it.

Phil
So what does Neil put in the perfect sandwich?

Bolam
Butter 버터, mustard 머스터드 소스, spicy meat 매운 고기, 그리고 pickle 피클을 넣었네요.

Phil
It must be lunchtime now! Anyway, was there anything more about sequencing?

Bolam
네 여기서도 순서를 나타내는 표현들이 있었죠? To start with 우선, after that 그 이후에, 그리고 이번에도 finally 마지막으로 이 표현이 나왔네요.

OK, great! Now we've got a test for you – here are my stages for a perfect sandwich. 1 - cut the bread, 2 - add butter, 3 - add salad, 4 - the last step, add some spicy meat. Now, how could you say this with sequencing expressions?

지금 Phil이 완벽한 샌드위치에 대해 얘기하려고 하는데요. 순서가 1. 빵을 자른다, 2. 버터를 바른다, 3. 샐러드를 더한다, 그리고 4. 마지막으로 매운 고기를 더한다 입니다. 어떻게 말할까요? 순서를 나타내는 표현들을 사용하는 것 잊지마세요.
