In English, when we say 'take it with a pinch of salt', we mean don't believe in it completely because it might not be true.

તો નીલને લાગે છે કે જોન પોતાનું કહેલું પાળશે નહીં. તે હેલનને જણાવે છે કે જોનની વાતોને ‘with a pinch of salt’ સાથે લે. મિત્રો, ‘take’ ને ગુજરાતીમાં કહીશું લેવું જ્યારે ‘pinch’ નો અર્થ થાય છે ચપટી. ‘Salt’ એટલે મીઠું.

સામેની વ્યક્તિ સાચું બોલે છે કે ખોટું એના વિશે તમને શંકા હોય ત્યારે આ અભિવ્યક્તિનો ઉપયોગ કરવામાં આવે છે. જો તમે સામેની વ્યક્તિએ કહેલ વાત ને ‘with a pinch of salt’ ની જેમ લેશો તો એ કહેલું ન પાળે તો પણ તમને દુઃખ થશે નહીં.
અંગ્રેજીમાં આ અભિવ્યક્તિ ક્રિયાપદ ‘take’ સાથે ઉપયોગમાં લેવામાં આવે છે. પણ ‘grain’ સાથે આ અભિવ્યક્તિનો ઉપયોગ કરતી વખતે ‘pinch’ શબ્દનો ઉપયોગ કરશું નહીં.
