Shopping vocabulary

I'm going clothes shopping.
I'm going to clothes shops to buy things.

I'm going window shopping.
I'm looking at clothes in shop windows without intending to buy them.

I'm going for a look around the shops.
I'm going to look in shops, but I may not buy anything.

Shopping phrasal verbs

put on
start wearing something

try on
to put on clothing to see if you like it (normally in a shop)

do up
fasten something (e.g. coat, jacket)

These phrasal verbs are separable - so you can say: กริยาวลีเหล่านี้ใช้แยกกันได้ ดังนั้นสามารถพูดได้ว่า:

• try the hat on OR try on the hat
• put on my jeans OR put my jeans on
• do the jacket up OR do up the jacket

If you use a personal pronoun, you'll need to separate them. หากใช้บุรุษสรรพนาม (it, them, him, her) ต้องจับแยกกัน:

• Try it on.  
• Put them on.
• do it up

Don't say: try on it.
