ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਐਪੀਸੋਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂਗੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਧਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਧਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ। ਦੋ ਅਹਿਮ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਨ  'to borrow' ਮਤਲਬ ਉਧਾਰ ਲੈਣਾ ਅਤੇ 'to lend' ਯਾਨੀ ਕਿ  ਉਧਾਰ ਦੇਣਾ। ਚਲੋ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਇੰਨਾਂ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਥੇ ਉਹ ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ? ਅਸੀਂ ਚਾਰ ਅਲੱਗ ਅਲੱਗ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਂਗੇ।

• Could I quickly borrow your pen? Thanks! 

• My sister and I borrow clothes from our mother all the time! 

• Would you like me to lend you that book? I can bring it tomorrow. 

• I forgot my wallet so Max lent me £5 for lunch.

Did you hear the four things? They were a 'pen', 'clothes', a 'book' and '£5'.

Yes! ਚਲੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 'borrow' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ 'I' ਜਾਂ 'we' ਕਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ 'borrow' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਧਾਰ ਮੰਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ 'a pen' ਜਾਂ 'clothes'। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ।ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਕਿ 'borrow' ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

• My sister and I borrow clothes from our mother all the time!

So, as you'd expect, the subjects – 'I' and 'my sister and I' – go before the verb. And the things – 'your pen' and 'clothes' – go after.

ਇਸ ਵਾਕ ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਧਾਰ ਕਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ:

ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਧਾਰ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਦੱਸ ਵੀ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਇਹ ਵਾਕ ਸੁਣੋ।

ਅਸੀਂ 'from' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

Great! ਚਲੋ ਹੁਣ 'lend' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਵਾਕ ਸੁਣੋ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। 

• Would you like me to lend you that book? I can bring it tomorrow.

ਤਾਂ ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਅਸੀਂ 'lend' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਾਂਗੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੋ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਜੋ ਲੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

Yes, so 'I lend you a book' and 'Max lent me £5'. With 'lend' you have to say the person and the thing after the verb.

ਸ਼ੁਕਰੀਆ ਸੈਮ। ਚਲੋ ਹੁਣ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟਿਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਸਦਾ 'phone' ਉਧਾਰ ਮੰਗੋ। ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 'Can I…' ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨਾ। ਅਤੇ ਵਾਕ ਵਿੱਚ 'borrow' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੀ ਜੋੜਨਾ। ਸੈਮ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਕ ਬਣਾਓ।

ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਪੁੱਛੋ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ'lend' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਾਕ 'Can I…' ਜਾਂ 'Can you…' ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ। ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ 'lend' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ 'phone' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ।
