Our programmes
BBC Learning English is part of BBC World Service and is dedicated to providing free resources for learners of English at all levels. BBC Learning English is a website with videos and podcasts, with new episodes each weekday. Materials are mainly for self-study, but can also be used in class. Almost all series have subtitles, and you can many pages come with a printable transcript, printable worksheet or quiz, which can be found on each episode page under the video/image. What do our levels mean?
We have three levels.
- Easy (A1-A2, Elementary and Pre-intermediate) e.g. The London to Edinburgh Challenge, The London Letter Challenge, Real Easy English
- Medium (B1-B2, Intermediate and Upper-intermediate) e.g. 6 Minute English, Tenses with Georgie
- Hard (B2 and above, Advanced) e.g. Learning English from the News, Business Jargon
How to access
BBC Learning English can be accessed in six continents and is always free. Our podcasts can be accessed wherever learners get their podcasts, including Spotify, Apple and directly from our website. BBC Sounds can be accessed if learners are in the UK. They do not need to pay.
Updates: New series in 2025
- My Song, My Home Learn English through song in this musical tour of the UK. This series is a podcast with accompanying videos. It comes with worksheets and transcripts.
- The Pronunciation Lounge. Interactive episodes include consonant clusters, rhotic /r/ and how to pause naturally (word groups and prominence). All come with a fun worksheet. Eight more episodes will be released this September.
- Ask BBC Learning English We answer questions from learners on a variety of topics.
- Real Easy English is now a visual podcast, so you can watch the presenters chat! Episodes come with a transcript and a downloadable worksheet. A new episode is released every Friday.
- We have two new English for Work series – Business Jargon and new episodes of Office English.
- Our website has been updated! You can now search by level and topic through our home page.
