Metabolism ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਐਨਰਜ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ।

Ooh! OK, so, I think undoubtedly there are genetic influences on your metabolism. So, between two different people, you know, my metabolism might be very different from your metabolism. But, the biggest thing that actually in a human being, the biggest thing that actually controls your metabolism is actually your body size. And the bigger your body size, the higher your metabolism.  The smaller you are, the slower your metabolism.

I think Chinese people, which I am, tend to be, smaller, and tend to not be able to carry as much fat before they become ill. All of us have a safe fat-carrying capacity, OK, and it's when we carry too much fat that we become ill. But all of us have different fat-carrying capacities. So Chinese people can't really get all that large before they get ill. I'm generalising, obviously, for an ethnicity. But take some people like the Polynesians, for example, they can get huge! They can get enormous before they actually go into disease.

An ethnicity ਜਾਤੀ ਜਾਂ ਨਸਲ  ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਂਵ ਹੈ। A capacity ਇਹ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਂਵ ਹੀ  ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਮਕਸਦ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਕਸ਼ਮਤਾ। ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਿਆ 'have' ਨਾਲ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

Some people have the capacity to carry more fat than others!
I could also say 'you have the capacity to become fluent in English'. It means you have the ability – you just need to practise!
