ఇవాల్టి ఎపిసోడ్‌లో మనం చూస్తున్న ఒక దృశ్యాన్ని ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో ఎలా వర్ణించాలో తెలుసుకుందాం. దృశ్యం అంటే మన కిటికీలోంచి చూసేదేదైనా కావొచ్చు. లేదా మన ఇంటి పక్కనో, ఆఫీసు పక్కనో చూసినది కావొచ్చు. ఒక ఫొటో, పైంటింగ్ లేదా ఏదైనా అందమైన దృశ్యం కావొచ్చు. ఇవాళ మార్క్ తను చూసిన ఒక ఫొటో గురించి మనకి వివరించబోతున్నారు. కదా Sam ? 

Sam
Yes, he’s going to describe a photograph he took last year.

Ok, great. మార్క్ చెప్పేది వినే ముందు ఈ పదాలు తెలుసుకోవడం మీకు ఉపయోగకరంగా ఉంటుంది: ‘mountains’ అంటే కొండలు, ‘lake’ అంటే సరస్సు, ‘field’ అంటే పొలం. ఈ ఫొటో మార్క్ ఏం దేశంలో తీసుంటాడంటారు? చూద్దాం. 

I see mountains in the background and a lake in the foreground. I see some trees at the bottomof the mountains but none at the top. On the left of the lake, I can see a field. Next to the field, I can see a house.

Wow, that sounds beautiful! Is it England? 

Sam
Very close! Mark told me it was Scotland. 

సౌమ్య
Nice! మార్క్ ఫొటోలో ఏమేమున్నాయో చెప్పడానికి కొన్ని పదబంధాలను వాడారు. అవేమిటో పరిశీలిద్దాం. ఎలా మొదలెట్టారో మళ్లీ విందాం.

I see mountains in the background and a lake in the foreground. 

సౌమ్య
ఇక్కడ ‘in the background’ అంటే వెనకాల లేదా వెనుక వైపు, ‘in the foreground’ అంటే ముందు లేదా ముందు వైపు. These are fixed phrases, aren’t they?

Sam
Yes, so it’s always ‘in’, not ‘on’ or ‘at’, like with some of the other phrases I used. Let’s quickly practise – repeat after me:

‘in the background’

‘in the foreground’

తరువాత మార్క్ చెట్ల గురించి చెప్పారు. మళ్లీ విందాం.

I see some trees at the bottom of the mountains but none at the top.

విన్నారా? చెట్ల గురించి చెబుతూ ‘at the bottom’ అడుగున లేదా కింద, ‘at the top’ పైన అని అన్నారు. ఈ పదబంధాలను వేరే విషయాలకు కూడా వాడొచ్చా లేక ఏదైనా దృశ్యాన్ని వివరించడానికేనా, Sam?

Oh, no! For example, my bedroom is at the top of the stairs, and the kitchen is at the bottom of the stairs. Notice that I said ‘of’ before ‘stairs’. Shall we practise? Repeat after me: 

‘at the bottom’ 

‘at the top’

Great! ఇప్పుడు ‘on’ ను ఎలా వాడారో చూద్దాం.

On the left of the lake, I can see a field. 

సౌమ్య
Ok, ‘on the left of’ అంటే ఎడమవైపు. ఇది మనం సాధారణంగా ఎవరికైనా దారి చెప్పడానికి వాడతాం కద! 

Sam
…and the opposite is, of course, ‘on the right of’. Quick practice! Repeat after me, please:

‘on the left of’

‘Next to’ అంటే పక్కన అని అర్థం.

For example, I’m sitting next to the door at the moment. Let’s say that together - ‘next to’ sounds more like one word. Repeat after me:

Well done! ఇప్పుడు 'చెట్టు పైన ఒక పక్షి కనిపిస్తోంది'.. దీన్ని ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో చెప్పండి. పక్షి-bird. 

Sam
I see a bird at the top of the tree. 

సౌమ్య
Great! ఇప్పుడు మీ ఫోన్లో మీరు తీసిన ఏదైనా ఒక ఫొటో గురించి ఇవాళ నేర్చుకున్న అంశాలన్నిటినీ వాడి మీ స్నేహితులకు చెప్పండి.
