ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਐਪੀਸੋਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ 'there is' ਅਤੇ 'there are' ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂਗੇ। ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਲੈਵਿਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਕੁਝ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੁਪਿਹਰ ਦੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ? ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਮਿਰਚ, 'a pepper',  ਪਿਆਜ, 'an onion',  ਪਨੀਰ 'cheese', ਦੁੱਧ 'milk', ਅੰਡੇ 'eggs', ਟਮਾਟਰ 'tomatoes' ਅਤੇ ਗਾਜਰਾਂ 'carrots'.

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਮਿਰਚ, ਇੱਕ ਪਿਆਜ, ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਪਨੀਰ, ਕੁਝ ਅੰਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਟਮਾਟਰ ਹਨ।

Yes! ਆਮਲੇਟ 'an omelette'! ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਵਾਕ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਲੈਵਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਰਿਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਾਕ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਸੁਣੋ ਲੈਵਿਸ ਨੇ 'a pepper' ਅਤੇ 'an onion' ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੀ ਕਿਹਾ।

ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ? ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ 'there's', ਇਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ 'ਉਥੇ ਹੈ'। ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਿਣਨਯੋਗ ਇੱਕ-ਵਚਨ ਨਾਂਵ ਨਾਲ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ 'a pepper' ਅਤੇ 'an onion'। ਇਹ ਦੋ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ 'there' ਅਤੇ 'is' ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਹੀਂ?

Great! ਹੁਣ ਲੈਵਿਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੋਲੇ ਗਏ ਬਾਕੀ ਵਾਕ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਕੀ 'there's' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਆਇਆ?

There's some cheese but there isn't any milk.

ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਵੀ ਲੈਵਿਸ ਨੇ 'there's' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੇ 'cheese' ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 'some' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ 'cheese' ਇੱਕ ਨਾ-ਗਿਣਨਯੋਗ ਨਾਂਵ ਹੈ.

So we can't say 'a', like with 'a pepper' or 'an onion', and when you pronounce 'some' you usually say it very quickly. Let's practise together – repeat after me.

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕੇ ਫਰ਼ਿਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁੱਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ 'isn't' ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ-ਗਿਣਨਯੋਗ ਨਾਂਵ 'milk' ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ any  ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ? 'Eggs', 'tomatoes' ਅਤੇ 'carrots' ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਗਿਣਨਯੋਗ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਿਆਕਰਣ ਵੀ ਬਦਲ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

Yes, we change 'is' to 'are', but we still use ‘some' and 'any'. Let's practise:

Did you say the same as Sam? ਹੁਣ ਕਹੋ ਇਥੇ ਪਿਆਜ 'onions' ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਵਾਕ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ, 'there isn't any' ਜਾਂ 'there aren't any'?  ਇਸ  ਵਾਰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੁਆਬ ਚੈੱਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੈਮ ਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਣਾ।

ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ? ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਹੁਣ ਕਹੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਕੁਝ ਦੁੱਧ 'milk' ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ 'milk' ਨੂੰ ਗਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ 'a' ਦੀ ਜਾਂ  ਫ਼ਿਰ 'some' ਦੀ?
