The story

New data suggests that global emissions of CO2 are rising for the first time in four years. However, researchers are uncertain about whether the projected increase in emissions this year is a one-off or the start of a new period of growth in levels of carbon dioxide.
Scientists say the main cause is the increased use of coal in China as its economy expands.
