You will have to keep your eyes open as you walk through the Castle though; you might see more than you bargained for! After a visit to Witches Galore in Newchurch-in-Pendle you’ll be taken on to Pendle Hill. History and legend has woven a spell over the area, with the famous Hill rising above this ancient hunting ground, once the home of wolves and wild boar. It is an untamed place, full of mystery and infamous as the home of the Pendle Witches who were tried and executed for witchcraft in 1612. Visit some of the stalls and stands that sell handmade items on the path leading to the Hill and then climb to the summit; it has been known that on Hallowe'en night around the witching hour, ancient ceremonies have taken place at the top!
