Really this is my teachers story but I stull found it very scary.She was walking in the cellar in hoghton tower neer the iron gates with out helper. They were on a tour in a group and there was a little boy who was about 2. the little boy said "Daddy, whats that lady doing behind that gate" about 10 seconds before the Guide said "sometimes people see an elderly lady kniting or sewing behind this gate" He hadent been listening at all so everyone belived him. By this time My teacher had left in fear!

Personally speaking, I believe all these ghost events are rubbish. There are far too many of them nowadays which tells you something of the nature of the beast. This is purely a moneyspinning project and dont be too quick to blame the venues either. These 'organised' ghost event tours are big business. Look on the net, see how many of them there are, what they charge etc and youll soon agree. Sadly even the Grand Theatre manager has jumped on the bandwagon here and now has his own website organising these tours around Blackpool!

We would never fake anything as we are serious about what we do.

ive been on a few in and around yorkshire, some good some bad i agree with you about high prices for tickets but it is the greedy council etc charging high amounts for venues, i went on an investigation with 3rd eye paranormal investigations based in cheshire and it was really good no rubbish out of them, caught some amazing activity on cam, cant wait for them to do there next one .....

Some good tour experiences some poor based on venues and just who runs the ghost night or investigation its hard for any company who runs such events to guarantee you see a ghost. They should however provide an enjoyable and interesting experience and its cost is often based on the greed of some venues to charge very high hire charges for the venue and staff, making the cost to the public very high anywhere from 50 to 110 pounds each this is silly money but blame the venues not the tour companies they want to keep ticket prices low but their hands are tied by greedy councils and trusts who own and run the venues who get 60% of all money from ticket sales.As for all these people who say there is no such thing as ghosts,well thats their opinion but the evidence over thousands of years and millions of people would suggest otherwise, a ghost night is not about sitting down and watching ghosts pop in and out for your entertainment it needs you to participate with an open mind negative attitudes will spoil the night for you and everyone else.if in doubt don't go!

I have been reading all the things written here and I wanted to share my experience of a ghost hunt. I know that there are some rubbish companies out there who only care about the money and do hype things up but I have been on 4 ghost hunts with a company called Haunted Happenings and they are brilliant. In fact they usually tell us that something ISNT paranormal when they could easily say it is. We went to a place in Burton with them last and we had the best time ever. I sometimes think it is the moaning people on the ghost hunts that spoil it and I don't think they should go if they just want to ruin it for everybody else.

The Grand and Samlesbury Hall were both extremely well organized venues and I enjoyed the experience at them both. The same can't be said about Mains Hall. The haunted ghost nights were unorganised and expensive. It comes as no suprise they stopped having them.

Yes its true there are some venues or tours cashing in on ghost events and even faking it! That said other groups and venues are well run by experienced and respected investigtors or mediums and try very hard to give a memerable and cost effective experience to the public.Its an expensive business to run a ghost investigation night the venues dont come cheap and need to be run and insured by professionals to avoid dissapointment.If you want a fun night out with a difference and are open minded go for it if you just want to condemn those involved and ridicule the event why bother going? stay at home and save yourself the hassle and your money.

i went to woodchester mansion,it was very eerie, but very good, heard some interesting things whilst there, and something blew in my face whilst we did a underground vigil, that freaked me out a bit, but i would definatelty tell people to go and do it, if its what they are interested in.

went on the grand ghost tour,we wernt impressed, and the derek accourah wanna be's just totally spoiled it for us fiddleing with their beeping equipment so we couldnt hear what was goin on waste of time and money i would think twice about going on ne again

i think ALL paranormal groups make it all up as they go along anyway, its a sad fact that they want fully booked venues and will do anything to reach that goal. so will big up any sound twitch or fart on that night to be paranormal when its just the usual sounds that you hear around your home. its all a con! they should go and get normal jobs instead of fooling the public

I have read most of the entries in this section with interest and, while I agree that organised Ghost Tourt can be interesting and entertaining it is not very likely that you are going to have a "Ghostly Encounter" while on one. If you want to experience what Paranormal Investigations (Ghost Hunts) are really about contact a local team and ask if you can join them on an investigation. Any team that is doing it because they believe in it rather than to make money will not charge you for the night! All you need to do to find a good team is type in Paranormal Activity in Lancashire on any of the top search engines.

Been on several Ghost hunts with Paranormal Nights, they are very very good....Guys Cliffe Hous ein warwick is fantastic had some very strange things happen to most of the group that night which I cannot even try to explain. Paranormal Nights are doing one at Salmesbury hall, so after reading what people are saying I think I might book myself on it.

I have been on many overnight vigils the winter gardens in morecambe, thurnham hall, ye old trip to jerusalem and many many more. i have found some interesting and some - how can I say - FAKE. If i had a favourite it would have to be the winter gardens in morecambe where i met the midget upstairs who pushed me over and the lady who fell down the stairs. It's a fasinating place I love it and be a friend of the winter gardens. I have been a tour guide when north west spirit seekers came to visit so give it a try guys its great. I'm looking for new locations at the moment so any invites would be welcome

I know simon quite well he is one of the real gentlemen of our time. any way back to ghosts. well i live in a pub and am visited by two ghosts quite often. one just looks like a normal man dressed in a black cloak. my son has seen him to. The other i think is a child but only my son has seen this one i have felt it.

I visited Chingle Hall many years ago and the guide was enough to put you off, anybody who has been when he was there will remember. Any way it happens my wife is more receptive than I am and she actually experienced something she could'nt explain and left the building in a hurry with me in tow

I am afraid that sometimes ghosts dont always show themselves or makes their presence known. I am sorry you believe our tour to be 'rubbish' but we dont make things up on our events so sometimes things dont happen its the first rule in paranormal investigating we can not make spirits 'perform'

I WENT ON A NORTHWEST SPIRIT SEEKERS NIGHT AT HAIGH HALL.5 OF US WENT IT COST £140 EACH SOME OF THE MONEY WAS FOR THE ANTONY NOLAN TRUST.WE WERE SPLIT IN TO THREE GROUPS NO ONE IN OUR GROUP HEARD OR SAW ANYTHING THE LEAD PERSON IN OUR GROUP SAID THE GHOST THAT WAS SUPPOST TO HAUNT THE HALL NEVER HAD CHLDREN,BUT THEN WHEN WE WENT INTO THE NEXT ROOM TO THE OTHER GROUP THEY WERE COMMUNICATING WITH THE GHOST CHILDREN !!!! MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP. I AM A BELIVER AS IVE SEEN GHOST BEFORE BUT THE TOUR I HAD WAS RUBBISH.

We left our house 20 yrs ago because of the thing which was in our house it was a rebult corner house nr Deepdale Preston. What ever it was it did not like my wife. doors slamming very loud bangs after 1;30 am . shadows in the front bedroom and magots apearing in our cooking pans it got to much and we ran out of explanations and left.

Wen i lived in leeds west yorkshire my mum and dad got a babysitter 4 me n my 2 mates. We decided 2 watch a film n watched halloween we we snuggled up on my 2 sofas n screamed like u do was a good film.Then my m8 sed she fancies ghost hunting we thought yeh how cool would that be so we begged my babysitter 2 take us half a mile away 2 kirkstall abbey its known 2 av once been occupied by monks.We entered the grounds by the main gate then noticed a small building which was approx 200 meters infront it was lite. As we got closer we noticed the light was starting to dim it sounds daft but this place is known 2 av spirits roaming the grounds.We were becoming scared grabbing eachother tight.It wasn't till we were right up 2 it that we noticed the light we'd seen dimming was totally out we shouted hello incase someone else was there we walked around it n couldn't find a door or window that was open we were by this time freaking out. And even after my experience at kirkstall abbey im still very sceptic about is paranormal something that is really out there or is it a myth which we feel we must or should believe i don't know but im not 22 and its been over 10yrs since i was last at kirkstall abbey n i'm ready 2 go back with a group of friends 2 see if i can find out if something was actually there that night or were we just seeing things because we were scared n freakin out coz it was late n dark n we'd just watched a horror i don't know but i'm deffinately goin 2 go back and find out it was deffinately the scariest place ive ever visited n i know live @ the back of the pleasure beach which has been sed 2 be haunted n i feel nothing from there but i deffinately felt something from kirkstall abbey i just dont know what it was i felt apart from fear im not sure if i felt a pressance with us that night thankyou for reading my sort of experience.

Pendle Hill is by far the most spooky location. I am a professional medium and used to working with spirit and seeing them but this place scared the hell out of me on halloween a couple of years ago.

The Blackpool Grand is running a series of Ghost tours around Blackpool - so far they've done the Zoo. They've already arranged tours for the Opera House in August and there are tours planned for the Grand itself. They have also said they plan to visit other locations in Blackpool. So far the charges for these tours has been £10 per person which, for a two hour tour, I think is very reasonable. The organisers also play it very straight - they don't try stunts to liven up the evenings - they just guide you round the places.

used to be a guide at chingle hall and had a few strange experiences.We tried to put an explanation to some happenings but when you rule out all the obvious answers some things were just very odd ! shame it is now apparentely closed,it is a fascinating and historical building.

I have to agree with Gary Johnson on his comments about Samlesbury Hall. The old original Great Hall is magnificent and seriously haunted! The wonderfully organised tour is second to none (as I've been numerous times and have far too many memories to share) I can only recommend this ghost tour on the strength of my own experiences and in Gary's own words 'Happy Ghost Hunting'!!!

Having been on a Ghost Hunt at Salmesbury hall i would like to say that not only were there a lot of ghostly going ons, there was lots of fun involved to and it ran over the allocated time by 4 hours! Thanks to the chaps who ran the night and i would do it again in a heartbeat infact i would even love to spend the night as i think that there would be so much more to experience.

Attended the ghost hunt and Mains Hall with my friend and went home extrememly unnerved! Moving Lights were caught on camera in front of one of the many priest holes that have been found in the Hall, it was like nothing I have ever experienced. I have always been interested in the supernatural and have attended various paranormal nights but there was something about Mains Hall that made me uncomfortable. There was a constant presence, various noises and flashes of lights and movements. I would definitley go again, many thanks to Mains Hall for the wonderful evening and experience.

As a reader of this section and as a previous guest on Radio Lancashire on more than one occasion I would like to say I have been involved in ghost nights and investigations with the public for a number of years now at various locations accross Lancashire and the UK and would like to add that both my personal experiences with the paranormal and that of the vast majority of the participants on these nights have led to some astounding indeed astonishing experiences, including the sighting of apparitions, many clear evp recordings, physical tugging of hair, and touching by unseen hands, plus witness to many photos taken by the public at these locations that include ghostly monks, priests, ladies and servants in old style dress, also heard were disembodied voices, footsteps and much much more. I can assure your listeners and readers of this section that tours and talks are not the same as ghost nights or investigations and are a totally different experience, Samlesbury Hall is a magnificent building with a fascinating history and under the guidance of professional investigators and mediums it can be a night to remember and talk about for many years to come.Its all about being in the right place at the right time with the right people.
