Frequently asked questions

Some answers to your questions about BBC Radio Lancashire coverage including DAB...

Is BBC Radio Lancashire available on DAB?

Yes. BBC Radio Lancashire can be found on the Central Lancashire multiplex, which has transmitters at Winter Hill and Pendle Forest... so there are parts of the county (North and Fylde coast) where you might not be able to hear us on DAB... check before you buy!

The Frequency for Radio Lancashire is CHANNEL 12A - Frequency 223.936.

For more information on DAB follow the link below for an idiot's guide to DAB.

Is it possible to get BBC Radio Lancashire on Sky digital?

No.. it isn't. We are available on DAB digital radio via the Central Lancashire multiplex, but you have to have a DAB receiver.

Is there a "listen again" facility available online?

Yes - there is a "listen live" AND a "listen again" facility featuring the majority of BBC Radio Lancashire's programmes. The "listen live" feature is not available when we are commentating on League football matches although it is available during FA Cup games and other competitions. See 'Why can I not listen to football commentary online?' below for more details.

How do I tune my DAB radio into BBC Radio Lancashire?

When it comes to DAB sets, we generally recommend that you use the autotune facility, but hold the button down for three seconds so that the set performs a deep sweep and tunes into all available stations rather than the first 10 or 12 that it encounters. If that doesn't work you you'll need to try a manual tune. We recommend you consult the instructions that came with the set, but the key info you require is that we are on Channel 12A on 223.936

Why can I not listen to football commentary online?

We simply don't have the rights to broadcast our commentary on the internet. The clubs decided en bloc to sell those rights as a separate item to the local radio commentary rights, and actually did a deal with the company that now runs club websites… so we were never even able to put a bid on the table. We can feature commentary on FA cup games on our website, but otherwise everything else has to be 'blobbed out'.
